Inaugural Member Sunrise Assisted Living on Vernier in Grosse Pointe Woods is the first senior living community to specialize in caring for memory impaired residents. The community will have two different neighborhoods that will focus on improving the quality of life for those dealing with varying stages of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of memory impairment. Reminiscence and Edna’s Place are specially designed "neighborhoods" created to care for residents in particular stages of memory loss. "Reminiscence" utilizes multi-sensory experiences and special programming to evoke pleasant memories and gentle reminders as an additional level of care. "Edna’s Place" provides a higher level of hands-on comfort in a safe secure area that offers sensory stimulation and sensory calming activities.
