Junior League of Detroit: Designers’ Show House

The Junior League of Detroit is thrilled to announce the 25th and final Designers’ Show House, located at 315 Lakeland Avenue in the City of Grosse Pointe.

Located on one of the premiere streets in the Pointes, the 2024 show house marks the fourth on Lakeland Avenue and the sixth in the City of Grosse Pointe. This lovely Tudor home, built in 1929, was designed by renowned architect George D. Mason for Dr. J. Milton Robb. There is over 8,000 square feet of living space with such elegant features as an intricately carved main stairway, a wood-paneled library, capacious terrace room, and beautiful leaded glass windows and doors found throughout. Situated on a sizable and elegant lot, the property includes an original brick border wall, a hidden pond, and mature trees which hold a secret garden within!

Every other year, the Junior League of Detroit selects a prominent estate in the area and curates a phenomenal team of local and national interior designers to transform the home into a Designers’ Show House. This year’s residence will not fail to impress with a roster of creative decorators who will transform the space into a showpiece of design. League members Ann Baxter and Julia Keim are the General Co-Chairs of the 2024 Designers’ Show House.

The Designers’ Show House allows the League to continue its philanthropic work, which supports community impact initiatives that help meet the needs of Detroit children, young women, and families. It also contributes to the community-based grants and scholarships given out annually by the organization.

“I am thrilled by the community support and the volunteer leadership that brings the Designers’
Show House into full bloom. With the help of our supporters and our generous corporate
neighbors, these events help families in Detroit who count on us as a committed partner
working hard to make a real and sustaining difference,” says Mary Hollens, President of the JLD.
“We look forward to everyone joining us to celebrate this beautiful show house and support
our mission of doing good in the community. We have incredible plans that will allow the Junior
League of Detroit to more fully invest in projects and programs that continue to change lives.”
Held biennially since 1976, the Designers’ Show House is a significant fundraiser for the JLD and
a longtime favorite event of the metro Detroit community. This will be the final Show House for
the JLD as it looks to other projects that will continue to make an impact on the community.
The Designers’ Show House will be open for public tours May 4 – 19. Tickets are $35 in advance,
$40 at the door, and can be purchased at jldetroit.org or at Village Palm, located at 17121

Proceeds from the 2024 Designers’ Show House will support the JLD’s partnership with Brilliant
Detroit, a non-profit organization that addresses early childhood development and
kindergarten readiness through the establishment of family centers in underutilized housing
stock, developed and designed by the neighbors themselves. The homes provide a place for
fellowship, activities, learning, and support for families and neighbors.
