Muscle on Mack Sponsored by Ray Laethem Buick GMC

Muscle on Mack provides a fun afternoon for the family with plenty of automotive “eye candy” and horsepower on display for all to enjoy.
The event is free and open to spectators from 12:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 24. Please visit the event website for more detailed information. https://www.muscleonmack.com/

The vehicles on display are made possible by friends, neighbors and enthusiasts who want to share their passion for power and style. Their entry fees go directly to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation, helping support the cause while giving everyone an opportunity to see their pride and joys. Since display space is limited, only pre-registered vehicles can be exhibited in the show.

Marge’s Bar Brand (direct from another fine Mack Avenue establishment) will be playing for two hours, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.  Food, from cider and donuts to Coney islands, chips and soda will be available. …along with event posters and “Tees”. The best part is, everything you purchase is a donation to the  Michigan Parkinson Foundation

Becoming the Motor City presented by the Grosse Pointe Historical Society

This presentation, based upon the book from Reedy Press, tells the story of how the auto industry and Detroit grew, prospered, ultimately suffered together and how Southeast Michigan continues to lead the world in charting the future of mobility often led by Grosse Pointers.

Presenter: Paul Vachon, (a 2018 Bicknell lecturer) is an author and freelance writer for whom Detroit area history is his favorite subject. Paul earned a BA degree from Sacred Heart Seminary College in Detroit and worked in the retail industry for two decades before becoming a full-time writer.

Due to a lack of internet availability in the Cook Schoolhouse, we are unable to livestream this lecture. Please visit the Society’s YouTube channel in the week following the lecture to view a recording.

Admission to both the live and virtual lecture are free through the generous endowment in honor of Dr. Bicknell.
