Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit is a free emotional health support community where children and adults, families and friends, find the tools, confidence and hope when navigating the difficult path cancer places us.

The Program Manager will utilize his/her clinical skills, adapted to the Gilda’s Club Program philosophy, in their role as trainer, supervisor and group facilitator.

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager will facilitate support groups, coordinate, plan and schedule program events, interact with staff, volunteers and members.

The Program Manager will engage club members, potential members, agency staff, volunteers and the professional community. They will be responsible for various program activities, times and events and will fill in for other program staff, as needed.

What is the job?

As the service manager, it is your job to manage our technicians, provide exceptional customer support, assist with estimates, & organize training. The service manager will additionally support office staff & technicians for troubleshooting.


  • Must be able to properly diagnose, service & repair various HVAC systems (it is a plus, but not required, if you have experience with boilers, tankless water heaters & SDHV systems!)
  • Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work well with a team
  • Must be able to follow instructions/procedures
  • Provide estimates for homeowners & commercial opportunities
  • Properly communicate with homeowners to educate and convert estimates to jobs
  • Promote preventative maintenance plans to further build customer base
  • Guide technicians to ensure that proper steps are taken on service/installations
  • Coordinate trainings for technicians on latest techniques and safety procedures for equipment and general working conditions
  • Work with installation manager to coordinate material & equipment orders for jobs
  • Meet with inspectors on job sites
  • Meets with office staff that regularly to discuss job scheduling, estimated time to complete jobs, labor hours and material used
  • Ensure the shop & vehicles are stocked, organized & working properly
  • Must have extensive mechanical & boiler knowledge
  • Is Dependable, Punctual & Detail Oriented


  • EPA Universal Certification & knowledge of code compliances
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.
  • Must be able to use hand tools & lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Knowledge in plumbing & electrical
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Skilled in sales is encouraged!
  • Mechanical & Boiler license is preferred
  • 10+ years in the field preferred
