America’s Boating Club – Grosse Pointe

America’s Boating Club- Grosse Pointe is a unit of the United States Power Squadrons and dedicated to encouraging safe boating through education by teaching classes and seminars in seamanship, navigation and other boating related subjects. America’s Boating Club- Grosse Pointe was organized on February 7, 1939 by Earl Teetzel and a group of 25 Grosse Pointe Yacht Club Members who recognized the need for boating education in the club. Our members are boaters as well as non-boaters who contribute to their communities by promoting safe boating through education. Our activities are centered on the 3 goals of the USPS: Education, Community Service and enjoying the fellowship and camaraderie of fellow members. In addition to conducting both public and member only classes we offer free Vessel Safety Checks to everyone and provide a lifejacket loaner program for kids at local marinas. We also have a full range of activities year round both on and off the water for our members to get together. Our summer on the water activities include Rendezvous, cruises and navigation contests. Winter and off season activities include classes, meetings, dinners, and different events to get together and keep things fun.

Suntastic Swim School L.L.C.

On March 1, 2014 my husband and I (both current Michigan educators and coaches) decided to full-fill a small business niche that was lacking in Southeastern Michigan in the summer months. A traveling swim school. (Traveling swim schools are established in other states.) From scratch, we created (we are NOT a franchise) Michigan’s first traveling swim school. We travel all over Southeastern Michigan in the summer months to “home pools” and give premier and personalized swim lessons.

Suntastic Swim School L.L.C. After our first summer of success and there being no “brick and mortar” swim school in the Grosse Pointes and surrounding area, many clients asked if we could teach their swimmers during the Fall, Winter and Spring months as well. After doing some research in the area, we decided to make a go of it. We were lucky to find and are fortunate today, to rent out Lakeview High School’s pool (Located on 11 mile in St. Clair Shores). Since we started the business we have taught thousands of swimmers and we continue to grow! So not only do we travel during the summer months, we are now an ALL-YEAR-ROUND swim school!!! No “home pool” during the summer months? No problem! If you don’t have a pool or know someone whom does or simply want high quality summer swim lessons, we still rent the pool at Lakeview High School.

Voted the “Best Swim Lessons” in the Grosse Pointes and Surrounding Areas in 2017 & 2018.
