GROSSE POINTE WAR MEMORIAL VETERANS CLUB

The meeting of the Grosse Pointe War Memorial Veterans Club, Inc. will be on Thursday February 8, 2024. Gathering will begin at 1:30 PM and the meeting will start at 2:00 PM in the Veterans Room on the lower level of the War Memorial. At 2:30 PM we will go to the first floor to attend the program given by the Grosse Pointe Artists Association and tour the art gallery. This will help you get rid of the winter blues. Veterans, families and guests are welcome, admission is free. Our speaker is Ms. Karen Pope of the Grosse Pointe Artists Association. The meeting will be over at 4:00 PM. I hope you enjoy the program.

All actors, singers, dancers, and gymnasts of all genders are welcome to audition for Grosse Pointe Theatre’s production of Disney’s Newswires, The Musical, which will be performed May 3-12 at Parcells Auditorium in Grosse Pointe Woods. There are several roles for young and older characters.

WHAT: Auditions for Disney’s Newsies, a Grosse Pointe Theatre production.

WHEN: Friday, Feb. 9th, 6-10 PM, and Saturday, Feb. 10th, 1-5 PM. Callbacks will be Sunday, Feb. 11th, 1–5 PM.

Pre-Audition Dance Workshop Feb. 7, from 7 – 10 p.m. will teach the audition dance routine. The workshop will be at Grosse Pointe Theatre’s Rehearsal Studio. Registration begins at 7 p.m.; workshop runs 7:30 – 10 p.m. Wear comfortable clothes and bring dance shoes, including tap shoes if available.

WHERE: Grosse Pointe Theatre Rehearsal Studio, 315 Fisher Rd., Grosse Pointe, MI 48230.

War Memorial: Chilly Sundays, Savory Sounds

Three of Detroit’s best loved musicians, violinist Eliot Heaton, cellist Erik Ásgeirsson, and pianist Pauline Martin are delighted to cap their first tour as a trio with a War Memorial Winter Brunch and Concert series performance. Expect a delightful brunch and a dynamic afternoon of chamber music, followed by a lively exchange with the artists with CSD’s customary Just Between Us “talk-back”.

A gourmet brunch is served at 11 a.m. and included a Mimosa and Bloody Mary Bar, Custom Omelette Stations, and a curated brunch offerings prepared by The War Memorial’s Executive Chef. The featured performance begins at noon.

Hail to the Hometown Victor

Join us at The War Memorial as we celebrate Joey Klunder- a member of the 2023 University of Michigan football team and a College Football Playoff National Champion! Klunder is a 2022 graduate of Grosse Pointe South High School and a defensive lineman for the Wolverines.
