This moving ceremony takes place on the lakefront lawn of The War Memorial as we honor and remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
This time-honored ceremony will include a speech by Brig. Gen. and War Memorial Board Member, Rolf Mammen, the Advancing and Placing of the Colors, and a recitation of the names of Grosse Pointe residents who lost their lives in service to our country.
*Due to construction and concern for the health and safety of our attendees pre-registration for this year’s ceremony is required; seating and parking will be limited.
The War Memorial is excited to welcome a wide variety of programs to the Alger House this summer! Young ones will enjoy programs including Mad Science; Elena Victoria Fine Arts; Self-Defense and Safety Camp for Kids; Bilingual Playhouse and many others!

For the final Evening with Chef Joe Paxton event for spring 2022, we celebrate the coming of spring in Michigan by gathering recipes featuring local ingredients and dishes. During this evening, guests will indulge in recipes that highlight the flavors and heritage from our Great Lakes State! From Chef’s mother’s house rolls to a crisp glass of wine from Leelanau Peninsula, this evening is sure to encompass the essence of the true Michigander!
The event will feature meats provided by Michigan-based Joli Cochon Farms and wine from Great Lakes Wines and Spirits.
When you bring together creative playwrights and their short original plays, eight talented directors, 18 amazing actors, and a troupe of dedicated volunteers, you have Grosse Pointe Theatre’s Take Ten – Ten-Minute Play Festival. This creative endeavor featuring eight original ten-minute plays from Michigan and North Carolina playwrights will be performed Saturday, May 7, at 2 p.m. in the Undercroft at Christ Church Grosse Pointe.
Eighteen actors will play a total of 23 characters, and several other volunteers are working behind the scenes to make sure each area of the festival runs seamlessly, resulting in a wonderful experience for audiences. Guests can stay for the entire festival, or they may arrive or leave in between the presented plays. There will be an intermissionThe recommended age for the audience is 18 and above.
